Play an Adventure Game With ChatGPT as Dungeon Master

Tips for getting ChatGPT to DM correctly.

They keyword RP is the important part.  Start a new thread. Your first prompt should look like this:

Let's RP a game in the style of (some setting), you are the dungeon master, show me some of my character info in a table, name="Anathur"

You can choose your name and more detail about your character if you want, besides a name.

Next, say "Show me my inventory, then describe where I am"

This tends to give you a basic starter pack.

Now you can describe what you want to do next, add the words "you should RP as the dungeon master" if the bot is not playing along. And also you can also use the word "continue" for more info. You can get pretty deep into an adventure like that.

More tips: If you want to find a town, group etc. 

Ask the A.I to create a table of fantasy countries: with population, government, alignment. Ask where you are and how far from town. Start working your way towards town, and look for a tavern "inquire about adventures in town", you can also sell and buy equipment and loot in town.

The main caveat is that the world doesn't last forever. This can be a quick way to generate a location, some characters, monsters, etc. And maybe flesh out some details of a world. But you may have to start from the beginning a few times.
